Moving from Blogger to Posterous

THIS BLOG HAS MOVED TO POSTEROUS :

In the process of simplifying things, I've decided to move to Posterous.com. I've tried Wordpress, been on Blogger for over a year, and even considered paying for blog services like Squarespace. There are a lot of good websites but I think it's time to streamline things. I hate repeating myself and with all this technology I really don't think I have to. Wither it's posting blogs, or pictures I'd like to consolidate things and have just have to do them once, I think Posterous.com is an excellent website that allows you to do just that. Check it out for yourself and go to http://posterous.com/

If you have an existing website or blog, I think this is an excellent site, the plus is how it really helps you blog or post pictures from your smart phone. A great website if you really want to post on the fly, another reason I wanted to make the switch, I just wanted to post more. Importing your old blog to Posterous is a snap! You keep everything on your blog posts and the comments as well. Give it a try and it won't effect your old site.

See you there, peace.

S _ _ _ _ _ T _ _

I wish I could do something.
I feel powerless.
All I can do is watch, listen, hope and pray.
What I've already suspected (what everyone has suspected) is true.
What was never spoken of, has become public. So now what?
Back to the same old same old? Back to business as usual?
I want to protect you, but that's not possible.
I want to help you, but you have to help yourself.
Your not 5 years old where I can just grab you and place you out of harms way.
I wish it were that easy, and in my mind you are still 5 years old.
But that's not the truth and that's not reality.
Don't you understand that what you do to yourself, you also do to us.
When you do what you do, you hurt everyone and anyone who gives a dam about you.
Why has it become this way? How did we get here?
Look in the mirror and tell me what you see?
It's not the enemy you see, its the enemy that lives with in.
How do we fix this? What can be done?
What magical words do you put together so that you can understand?
Please come back to us, I know there is still a little bit of who I know in there.
I'm afraid of the road that you are currently traveling.
The only road I want you to find, is the road back to us.
Your lost and we all want to find you again.

How To Delete Your Facebook

I deleted my Facebook account over a year ago, and I'm glad I did. I had my reasons, mostly because the saying, "Ignorance is bliss" totally applied to me then. I don't miss it, to me it was such a time waster and do I really want to know or care what my 8th grade "friend" is up to now? No. Now I'm not trying to be a Scrooge about this, Facebook is extremely useful to a lot of people. To many people,  Facebook is the internet and that is where the problem lies. If you tell someone that Facebook has failed to live up to its privacy policy, they most likely wouldn't care, I think what you post on the internet, regardless of how much Facebook says is private, consider it public, that goes with anything on the internet, not just Facebook. The bigger issue is, Facebook is actively retrograding the internet. Facebook is the new AOL. A big company with over 400 million users that is openly making a power grab, its like if you want to play on the internet you have to join Facebook. Really? What ever happened to the open internet? Facebook is retrograding the internet, it's like putting training wheels on your bike again. Do you want that?

Newman's Own

I've been trying to eat salad everyday and I mean real salad, not the iceberg lettuce that have little to no nutritional value, but the organic brand salads that have a good mix of grassy, purple, and weed looking items that are hard for me to describe. I also make it a point to place some protein in my salads, I chop up some egg, or mix up some tuna or some chicken breast into my salads. It's really light but filling, I don't feel so bloated after I eat. I use to just drizzle some extra virgin olive oil over my salads, but I was looking into some salad dressings with a little more kick to them. I stay away from the creamy style dressings, those can really boost up your calorie count and are a matter of fact, not good for you. Anyways Newman's Own Salad Dressing is pretty awesome. Plus all profits when you buy Paul Newman's Own products, go to his charity, here is the website Newman's Own

Paul Newman was a good man, God rest his soul.

Fry's Electronics.....Never again

Fry's Electronics
2311 N Hollywood Way
Burbank, CA 91505
(818) 526-8100

I'm done with this place, DONE! Fry's will no longer get any of my business and I'll do my best to let others know that putting down money here is a big mistake. The repair and service department is PATHETIC!

Let me elaborate, my new Gateway desktop computer which I bought just this past summer failed to log on properly. So I sent it into the repair and service department at Fry's where I bought it, when at the time I bought the computer I also purchased there 3 years extended warranty.

So did Fry's service department to do wrong well, lets see:

- when I asked them to fix my computer they said that it was still under the manufactures warranty, cool...they "SAID" they would send it to Gateway. Problem : they didn't, I called a full month later and they told me something different, that they usually try to fix computers "In House" before they send it to the manufacture. WTF?! I'm being told 2 different things!  It seems that they had my computer for an entire month before they did anything, and the things is, they wouldn't have done shit had I not called in and checked on them a month later!

- In my attempts to call the service department there was a point where I was placed on hold, 15 min. went by, 20 min. went by, 30 min. went by...WTF?! They put me on hold and forgot about me!!!! What a waste of my fucking time! So I hung up and called again, and was able to talk to a representative within 5 min., which confirms some fucker put me on hold and forgot!

- When my computer went down and since it was purchased within the year, I was eligible to get a loaner computer, I didn't know that when I asked for my computer to be serviced, it was only a month later when I called back that they offered it to me, why not offer it to me a month ago? Stupid idiots!

I been looking online and Fry's Electronics have done a lot of sinister shit, read for yourself : CLICK THIS!!!!

God I miss Circuit City, lets resurrect that and kill off Fry's!
VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET AND BUY WITH ANOTHER COMPANY!

Kaldi Coffee & Tea

Kaldi Coffee & Tea
3147 Glendale Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90039
(323) 660-6005

A major tip coming here is you should definitely park in the residential area, parking on the street and feeding the meters will cost you 15 minutes a quarter, versus parking on a residential street and paying nothing.

I live here in Atwater Village and this is the place to get coffee, I'm embarrassed to say I don't always go here, I go to the dreaded Starbucks. That's only because of the convenience of parking at Starbucks, but no more I promise! From now on its supporting the local small businesses. For the locals this is a great stop by whenever you walk your dog and selection here is numerous, both in hot drinks and cold drinks, however you want to satisfy your caffeine fix, this is the place to come.

The only thing I really would like is a website for this place, there is a lot of different drinks they offer and seeing what they serve before you actually visit the place would be helpful. The inside is kinda small, but sitting outside is nice to, especially with LA weather.

Manna Korean BBQ

Manna Korean BBQ

Los Angeles, CA 90019

With over 600+ reviews on Yelp, I don't think I'll be saying anything new and relevant about this restaurant. I came here for my friends birthday and had a good time. It's loud, noisy, a real party atmosphere. I will say when they play music, its pretty repetitive, I mean they really need to mix up the songs they play, the night was a constant repeat of the same songs, over and over again.

Come hungry, come very hungry, eating here is a protein overdose. Now if its your birthday, tradition here is the waiters come and literally spray you with champagne, no joke, you get spraying like if you where the Lakers celebrating a championship. Since my 4 year old nephew was there, we decided it wouldn't be appropriate. In any event it was a good time had by all.

Huell Howser

Howell Howser is.....AMAZING!

If your live in California, you know the name Huell Howser. He probably has the best job in the state. I've been watching him since his Video Log days on KCET, our PBS station here in Los Angeles. His recent podcast release is freaking hilarious! Huell pretty much comes to a backwards town in the middle of no where, Newberry Springs, CA to be exact, and gets into a lot of awkward situations with the locals, it is funny as hell. To check out that episode go his website and click on the "New Calgold Podcast".......http://www.calgold.com/

Ambrosia Restaurant

Ambrosia Restaurant
6410 San Fernando Rd
Glendale, CA 91201
(818) 507-9550

I came here with a big group of my family, we filled about ten tables. The tables were set out very nicely and we were seated in a big hall, with a stage and dozens of chandeliers over head, this would be a wonderful place to rent out for a wedding or any special event. You really can't tell either from the outside, how nice it is on the inside, I really didn't expect it to be this nice.

You have to come hungry here, the side dishes themselves were very good and very filling. There was eggplant, some sort of pasta dish, reddish coleslaw, humus, olives, salad, goat cheese, slices of beef  tongue, and of course plenty of pita bread. I love combining the goat cheese and the slices of beef tongue, putting it into the pita bread and then dipping it into some humus. The good thing about my meal here was it was all you can eat. Needless so say my table asked for more humus, goat cheese, and beef tongue...oh yeah. Then you reach the main course, it consisted of grilled tomatoes and bell peppers, wild long rice, fried fish, and a red meat plate. The red meat plate is huge with generous portions of traditional Kebab style meat, lamb, beef, chicken, all of which was tasted great.

The waiters are very attentive and very accommodating. Service here is very good. I know its popular right now to find "fast food" middle eastern food, but when you go to a quality middle eastern sit down restaurant, you can instantly taste the difference. I don't know how old or new this restaurant is, but I hope they stick around for a good long while because they serve quality food.

The Dinosaur Farm

The Dinosaur Farm
1510 Mission Street
South Pasadena, CA 91030
(626) 441-2767

"Whoa!"..."Wow!"..."Oh wow!" ..."Whoa!"

These were the first words out of my 4 year old nephew's mouth when he first came into the store. My nephew loves dinosaurs and when I mean loves, I mean he really loves dinosaurs, my nephew talks about dinosaurs in his sleep. This store was custom built for him and when I first herd about this store, I couldn't wait to bring him here. I usually buy him stuff at Toys R Us, but I usually have to hunt for dinosaur related items and sometimes there isn't much of a choice to choose from at Toys R Us.

Since my nephew is so into dinosaurs, I've sorta become an aficionado of dinosaur toys and dinosaur related items. I've done toy shopping in Downtown LA and in Chinatown, even though prices of dinosaur toys there are cheap, the quality is inferior because the dinosaur toy models are made of cheap plastic. You might pay a little more at The Dinosaur Farm, but there dinosaur toy models are made very well, there not just fine for kids to play with, but they are also really detailed enough for display purposes, enough so that I think these dinosaur models would impress even adults.

Hot pho, on a rainy day, it just hits the spot. The garlic pork was extra garlicy, awesome, I like lots of garlic. Weekends are busy, look forward to about a 10 minute wait, but its well worth it. Great verity of choices in Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai Soups.

And for dessert, boba smoothies, they are your friend.

888 Seafood Restaurant

888 Seafood Restaurant
8450 E Valley Blvd
Ste 121
Rosemead, CA 91770
(626) 573-1888

My cousin had her baby shower here today and I have to say all the tables and chairs looked well decorated and put together. We were in a room with no windows, but that didn't matter since the company of family and friends is what was important and of course the food.

The dim sum was great, I'm a chicken feet and tripe kinda guy and I always look for those first. The chicken were big and full of skin and tendon. The tripe was tasty, no too chewy, and very fresh. There is one item that you have to order, it's there beef tendon soup. The broth is boiling and filled with mushrooms and beef tendon that is lined with some fat on it, really beefy and delicious.

My dim sum check list :

Hot = yes
Variety = yes
Fresh Ingredients = yes

This place is noisy, busy, not ideal for a quiet conversation, but that didn't bother me any, hey it's atmosphere. Parking is pain in ass so bring some patience with you, but it's well worth it.

2010

From

I'm not going to state any resolutions, resolutions are like diets, they are destined to fail. No "to do list" for me either, putting together a "to do list" seems like more work, then what it is you need to get accomplished. Everyday is a chance for you to do something different, something that betters your life, January 1st you proclaim a resolution and by January 2nd you've broken it, so what's the point? Exactly. One thing I did learn from 2009, is that you got to lead by example. You can't shit talk, gossip, berate, put down, and meddle your way for someone to change. You got to know and understand, there actions speak for themselves. In short, calling attention to someones faults, no matter how bad it is, takes effort for me, but letting there actions speak for themselves, does not...you do not get my effort any longer.

As for 2010, I want to lead by example, no more talk about this, or that, "I'm going to do this", "My plan is going to be this", etc.... Instead I want to blog about what I've done, or give you a "progress report" on how far along I am towards what I want to get accomplished.

Happy 2010, cheers!
